As companies grow the sharing of knowledge on products, customers’, processes, costs etc. gets more and more difficult, and a lot of knowledge can reside with a small number of senior managers. Some companies are now attempting to pull this knowledge together into internal formal learning programmes, which can be delivered to a much larger number of staff in the organisation.
BSM has recently assisted a number of clients in developing and introducing knowledge learning programmes. The approach to these projects is a little different to our standard consulting approach and will normally involve the following steps:
- Scoping workshop with senior teams to agree the programmes
- Establishment of a working group (includes a number of internal knowledge “experts”)
- Capture and refine existing knowledge, and incorporate best practices (if appropriate)
- Identify suitable internal trainers
- Run Train the Trainer workshops
- Role out the learning programme internally.
To-date BSM has helped to develop the following learning programmes:
- Innovation Management
- Key Account Planning and Management
- Supplier Relationship Management
- Value Analysis
- Team Working
- Technical & Product Knowledge Programmes.
